Is your game still crashing randomly with it turned on.
Haven't tried it yet, that's why I asked if you changed something. I'll try today and tell something about it
-
I'm fine with how it is now.
Btw did you do something with the game crashing randomly with the buffering feature on?

From my testing it sending the pause status is just weird, most people don't pause every map.
But most spectators don't really watch us for so long and I think it would be still better than appearing the buffering thing
For example if I get spectators they are usually my friends and if I "pause" they wouldn't really think about anything cheat related

So... can you check what the status says when player has to wait? I don't have two PC's.
I'll check tomorrow, have to sleep rn xD

I'm using cutting edge mostly, depends when ;d
Uhmm it's probably a cutting edge feature because I never saw that on stable, the "Choosing song" thing, but yeah

I saw players with status "choosing song" and "idle" and "watching" and I'm talking about the status u see below the profile name in "online" tab in osu client.
I never saw the "Choosing song" one and i've been playing the game for very long, I must be blind lmao
edit: U using stable version of Cutting edge? I use stable

He won't see anything because as soon as his delay will end the text will change to "playing".
I guess you're talking about the profile?
I think it never says "Choosing a song". only "Playing" "Idle" "Watching" etc etc
It only says Choosing a song when you're on spectator mode and the guy is actually choosing a song
-
It shouldn't be changed to anything, if it's supposed to originally say that I'm playing a song, it should stay like that... Imagine someone decides to spectate me while I'm "Idle" and he goes into spectator mode and he sees that I'm paused?
But as I said I don't really know what it shows on profile when I'm paused on a song.
edit: englando
I think we are not on the same page tho, are you referring to what the spectator will see when watching me or when seeing the Profile things?

When a user have to wait 5-20 seconds, do my profile display that I'm playing, choosing a song or Idle?
Never tried to check with my other account but I guess it tells people that I'm Playing a song

is it true that osu collects the process list and takes screenshot whenever you submit a score. Edit: peppy confirmed that these are true 2 years ago (not too sure if its still like this)
if thats true can you get banned from manual inspection? (because if thats true osu will take the process list including aqn launcher and take a screenshot while the menu button is visible)
it's not true. this method is not used anymore, now you can only get banned if you are really blatant and end up on osu!report reddit lol

Great job with what you've done already but I've got an idea, not sure if it is even possible tho.
Is it possible to instead of waiting on the menu for like 5~20 seconds (depending on the song lenght), the spectator could go into the spectator mode without delay but instead of appearing "Buffering (0%)" for 5~20secs at the start of the map it would appear "Host paused" for 5~20secs? Is there anyway to trick osu! to make that happen? Would be pretty cool imo.
"5-20secs" is just an example.

Well once its all ready I'm not going to let it be a toggle with it permanently being enabled, You need to start a map then disable it and close and open the game for it to be disabled.
BTW the update is pushed if you want to try to see if it does 0% buffer.
Tried it now and excelent job!! Just as I thought It would be.
I'm still wondering if we'll be able to set the amount of time the spectator will need to wait tho! I wouldn't mind if it buffers for like 2~3 seconds as the map goes on (if playing tv sized maps).

Disable it and let them buffer every half seconds then if its so omega blatant.
This is literally the first release of the option and I already changed it in the next release.
I know it's blatant if I disable it I just said. If I disable it should go back to normal but it apparently doesn't? But whatever pretty nice job either way.

Updated.
So I tried spectating myself with my laptop on another account and it's ok I guess
If I set the song ~6 seconds slower I will start spectating at the same time I start playing but It will buffer on the start of the map for ~6 seconds. Can't you make it like so the person spectating only starts watching 6 seconds later instead of being sitting down watching the "BUFFERING" thingy for that long? People might start suspecting if someone uses the timewarp badly and the person just sits for ~15 secs watching the buffer thing at the start of the map.
Like instead of going to spectator mode and wait 5 seconds of buffering at the start, staying on menu and 5 secs after go into spectator mode without having the "Buffering" on the start.
Nice work anyway Just suggesting something.
-
Can someone tell me how does that work?
For example if I will end a song 5 seconds later than when it's supposed to finish, the spectator will start spectating the map 5 seconds after I started playing the song?
Or are you using other method
-
-
Uhm ok that's cool but are these things that have nothing to do with cheats takin' priority over the things that people are actually asking for?
Nice job anyway
-
So I was editing a replay, was on the middle, saved and quitted osu. Later I came back to finish editing but the .rumi file is 1KB and I won't open the replay I was editing. Any fix or will I need to start over from zero?

i mean making the programm external or the menu as an overlay would fix the whole thing
Making the program external would be nice

How does it scale tho? What are the calculations that you guys do?
Ok so it actually scales. But could we still have like a keybind to change AR from 9 to 10 and vice versa or something like that?
-
It doesn't scale for me at least. If I don't change values I get like 90UR on 240bpm with DT and this is fishy af
Timewarp no buffer option idea

So far so good. (no crashes)
Btw is it still possible to make an option so we can choose if we want the spectator to see "Host paused" instead of "Buffering" at the start? This way we could alternate between those 2 things
even if you can't swap between those 2 I would still like to be able to choose between both, somedays I would use the Buffering one somedays the Host paused one... so it won't be always the same thing idk
